CHANDIGARH, Punjab—Delivering a heavy blow to the newly formed Congress government in Punjab, the Union Finance minister has made it clear that the central government would not waive the loans of farmers. He has said that the Union government will not espouse a selective approach by waiving debts of farmers of a particular state.
Speaking in Rajya Sabha on March 23, Arun Jaitley said that the states were free to use their resources to waive debts of farmers and the centre will not intervene in these matters. He said that the Centre has its own policies for agriculture under which the interest on loans is waived and other helpful schemes are provided to farmers.
The Congress government of Punjab used the play card of waiving farmers’ debts to return back to power in Punjab after 10 years. But now the Congress is going to face sharp criticism by political rivals.
The Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh had met Prime Minister Narendra Modi on March 22 and made a strong pitch for a one-time loan waiver for the debt-ridden farmers of the state. He had met Modi in his Parliament complex office for the first time after becoming the CM.

1) Farmers Education institutes like school, all type of colleges,universities
2) Farmers airports,ships and space stations
3) Farmers industries of all types from pharmucetical, software, vehicles manufacturing etc etc.
4) Farmers energy plants from thermal to nuclear to wind to Sun
5) Farmers construction companies.
6) Farmers super speciality hospitals
7) Farmers internet services
8) Farmers telecommunications companies
9) Farmers Space agency like cosmodrome, space stations
10) Farmers satellite services
11 ) Farmers super computers and Artificial intelligence institutes
Etc etc
Farmers must build an complete Farmers Universe like
1) Farm Industries like Potato chips , sauce ,Juices etc
2) Farms storage space like cold storage and silos
3) Farms sales outlets
4) Farmers Bank
5) Solar power Farms
6) Agricultural appliance from harvesters to Tractors
7) Farmers Towns and Metropolis
8) Farmers stock exchange
9) Farmers Research Labs.
etc etc
I don’t know how a poor farmer will break the cycle of poverty, debt & needs without the help of government where product of farmer ‘potato’ is sold for Rs. one per kg. & product made of potato chips weighing 70 gms is sold by businessman for Rs 20.00. The people of India have elected wrong party who cares for businessman for money & majority for votes. Poor & minorities are suffering.
In long run we must all be economically independent and not depend on govt for bail outs
All farmers must earn one source of income from non farming.
Is the Brahman & bania are only citizens of India? If the government can waive debts of businessmen why not of the farmers? The government should educate the farmers to grow profitable crops & give the proper price for their crops.
Sir Amarinder should use
1) State funds to bring farmers out of Debt
2) Set up a farmers bank
3) Set up an expert committee in Cabinet and govt for the economic well being of farmers.
4) Rapidly industrialize the state by environmental friendly industries.
