SGPC to begin campaign to aware Sikh masses about Guru Granth Sahib’s seva

DORAHA, Punjab— In a meeting of SGPC executive committee on February 27 at Gurdwara Degsar Sahib (near Doraha), the SGPC members resolved to begin a massive campaign to aware Sikh masses about the code of conduct to be obeyed while installing the Holy Scriptures of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji.

SGPC President Prof. Kirpal Singh Badungar said that the SGPC was going to constitute three committees in Majha, Doaba and Malwa zones to make robust environment to deliver Holy Scriptures of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji on demand. He informed that the Holy Scriptures will be issued only after proper deliberations.

Move by the SGPC comes after series of incidents relating to sacrliege of Guru Granth Sahib ji across Punjab.  SGPC’s lack of role in attempting to curb sacrilege incidents has been cited over and over by Sikh leaders.

“We are going to ensure that all Gurdwaras where scriptures of Guru Granth Sahib ji are installed are properly setup.  This will include work from checking the bedding, electrical wiring and even interviews of the Granthis,” Prof. Badungar told Sikh24.  “We committees will establish contact with all SGPC Gurdwaras shortly,” he added.

SGPC’s senior vice president Baldev Singh Kaimpur, SGPC’s junior vice president Baba Buta Singh, SGPC’s executive member Gurcharan Singh Grewal, SGPC’s executive member Bhai Ram Singh, Bhai Jaipal Singh Mandian, Bhai Surjit Singh Bhittewadd, Bhai Nirmal Singh Hariao, Bhai Kulwant Singh Mannan, Bhai Balwinder Singh Veinpoin, Bhai Gurmail Singh Sangatpura, Bhai Satpal Singh Talwandi Bhai, Bhai Surjit Singh Kalaboola, Chief Secretary Harcharan Singh, Secretary Dr. Roop Singh, S. Harbhajan Singh Manawa, S. Sukhdev Singh Bhoora Kohna, Dr. Paramjit Singh Saroa, S. Kewal Singh, S. Ranjit Singh, Additional Secretary Mohinder Singh Aahli etc. were present on this occasion.

  1. First and foremost duty of SGPC if they believe in Sikhi to follow the order of Guru Gobind Singh ji which was and I am repeating it. The only Guru of Sikhs is “Aad Guru Granth Sahib ji” and nothing else. If they can establish this in all the gurdwaras including Takhats at Patna Sahib and Hazoor Sahib where our Guru is insulted daily then only they will have any credibility to implement anything else.
