O Nanak! All of us come to this world when sent by the Divine, and depart from the world when called back by Him. – Guru Angad Sahib, Guru Granth Sahib, 1239

Message: One Way Ticket? (eh janam tumare lekhe)!

Before sending us to this beautiful earth, the Creator through His divine will (hukam) has given us a one way ticket, back to him one day.

But nobody knows when our time to leave will come, after we complete our journey.

No matter how great or powerful we are, we cannot override or overrule the divine will.

Even if we argue and say that we are not yet ready to go because we have some very urgent things to take care of, none of these pleas have any effect and we have to obey this will.

Let’s remind ourselves to be conscious of this reality of life early on and prepare ourselves for the ultimate call. So while living in this temporary planet, let’s do well and save ourselves and others from indulging in wrong things.

Etymology: From Sanskrit ghalyati (pours) → Prakrit ghallai (throws) → Punjabi ghallṇaa (to send).
