As a scholar is absorbed in scholarship, eyes are pleased seeing something, and the tongue loves to savour tastes, in that same (passionate) way do the devotees sing or savour the attributes of the Divine. – Guru Arjan Sahib, Guru Granth Sahib, 613
Message:
Creators Virtues
When we sing praises of the Divine, we experience a delightful and uplifting feeling.
Right?
After all, you are singing the attributes that glorify perfection and completeness.
Hari gun are attributes of the Divine that constitute the nature and being of the Divine. Singing the praises of the Divine is an act of devotional worship that has been recommended in Gurbani frequently.
Does it mean that the Divine is like ordinary human beings, hungry for praise?
No. We are encouraged to sing the praises of the Divine as it literally brings out the divine from within us, further cementing the fact that we are actually embodiments and manifestations of the divine Spirit.
Thus if we use the same passion of the scholar in his study, human eyes in their vision of the world, and the human tongue that savours many dishes, to love the Divine, we will be joyful.
If love for the Creator and His infinite virtues is pursued zealously we can succeed in polishing and elevating godly attributes within us.
