Meaning: noun: The city in the sky or in the tenth gate, a high spiritual state where the spirit rises high.

Quote:

garab nivaar gagan pur paae.

Overcoming egotism, one attains the dwelling of the city in the sky a high spiritual state where the spirit rises high. Guru Nanak Sahib, Guru Granth Sahib, 153
Message: The city in the sky or a higher state of spirituality is where consciousness rises higher. How do we find it or reach it in our life?

By finding the right guidance in life, we understand that the obstacle that hinders our journey to a state of bliss and peace, is our self-centeredness and excessive attachment to worldly desires.

By getting rid of our egoism, we overcome egocentric thoughts and behaviour. Our sense of duality or double-mindedness departs. We develop a discerning intellect. We see everything not through the lenses of our selfish interests or falsehood but through the cultivated virtues of truth and justice.

Etymology: Compound of gagan (sky, heaven, tenth door), from Sanskrit gagan, and pur (town, city), from Sanskrit pur.
