:dateline:Alleged Chief of Khalistan Liberation Force Bhai Harminder Singh Mintu was produced before the Duty Magistrate Ram Pal by Punjab police on December 20 who extended his Police remand for further two days. Bhai Mintu was produced before the Magistrate after five days of police remand which the Punjab police had obtained on December 16 after bringing Bhai Mintu to Punjab from Delhi.

According to witnesses, Bhai Mintu’s physical condition seemed quite weak during his court appearance yesterday. He was barely able to stand and had a bowed posture due to torture committed by Police during his remand.

The Punjab police sought aseven day remand increase but the defence lawyer Advocate Sikandar Partap Singh strongly opposed the demand. Heasked the Magistrate to have thepolice produce the details of what it learned from Bhai Mintu during the last five days of remand. He further statedthat the Punjab police must be harassing Bhai Mintu as they’re aware thatthe Delhi police had already interrogated himfor 14 days and obtained nonew information.

It may be recalled here that Khalistan Liberation Force Chief, Bhai Harminder Singh Mintu had fled from Nabha Jail on November 27 along with other prisoners. The escapewas reportedly planned and carried out by accomplices of the to oust the renowned gangsters from prison.

Congress and AAP had alleged Sukhbir Badal’s hand behind the Nabha jailbreak episode in wake of upcoming assembly polls of 2017 in Punjab. It is also worth mentioning here that Bhai Mintu was arrested within 24 hours after fleeing from Nabha jail while all the other gangsters are still on run, which raises serious suspicions over the whole jailbreak episode.
