:dateline:Interacting with media at the�National Livestock Championship at Sri Mukatsar Sahib on December 5, the Shiromani Akali Dal’s President and Deputy Chief Minister of Punjab Sukhbir Singh Badal said that he would announce his and his father CM Parkash Singh Badal’s election constituency after finalizing all candidates of SAD.
Elaborating on reasons for delays in announcing his constituency, Sukhbir Badal said that the survey was being done by a SAD team in all constituencies and he will announce his and his father’s (CM Parkash Singh Badal) constituency after getting the survey done. However, he refrained from sharing the details of parameters on which surveys were being done.
On being questioned about the cancellation of tickets of existing SAD affiliated employees and their resignations, the Deputy CM said that the candidates were given tickets on the basis of individual merit. He added that as per survey reports the candidates were rejected due to their unpopularity in their respective assembly areas.
Meanwhile, it is being speculated that the fielding of Bhagwant Mann from Sukhbir Badal’s existing assembly area of Jalalabad by AAP convener Arvind Kejriwal has put the Deputy CM into worry. According to sources, the Deputy CM Sukhbir Badal may change his constituency as Bhagwant Mann had defeated SAD’s veteran leader Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa in the last Parliament elections by a massive lead.
He has not yet decided which constituency he and his father will stand in? Such courageous vacillation reminds me of the jackal sniffing around to see which carcass it can more easily steal away from the paws of lions.
