:dateline:In a press note shared with Sikh24, SGPC President, Prof. Kirpal Singh Badungar has said that the SGPC will take strict steps to control the disrespect of Sikh masters and shrines by mischievous elements who post edited images on social sites. He has said�that the SGPC has written a letter to the Cyber Crime Investigation Cell to take notice of such activities and unearth the miscreants behind such activities.
Prof Badungar has said that it was very unfortunate that the incidents of disrespecting content about Sikh masters, Sikh shrines and Sikhism have increased�sharply. He has asked the Cyber Crime Investigation Cell to identify such miscreants and indict them through�legal avenues. He has also appealed to the public to socially boycott persons who post malicious content to hurt the religious sentiments of any community.
�Sikhism teaches�us to respect every religion and to allow everyone to exercise their beliefs but it doesn�t mean that the Sikhs will keep their eyes closed if someone will try to disrespect�our masters by posting malicious content over internet�, he added.

You call the deliberate blackening of Sikh theology ‘freedom of speech’ yet at the same time want the Sarbat Khalsa banned and Sikhs arrested for sedition when they want to meet and debate their own religious affairs? On these forums you have defended the right of Hindus to murder people for the slaughter of cows, the persecution of Christians for converting Dalits and the ghar wapsi reindoctrination programme but you don’t want Sikhs to stop malicious attempts to pervert and subvert their religious doctrine? But then again you are the same person who tells Sikhs don’t take too seriously (certainly don’t make any protests in the street as is your democratic and religious rights and duty) the deliberate beadbi of your Guru Granth Sahib so of course you will want the egalitarian message of Sikhi to be despoiled also as well befouling it with notions of mythological gods, goddessess, superstitions, idolatory, astrology, mindless ritualism and institutionalised casteism all of which are antithetical to our beliefs. Sikhs believe in Akal Purakh alone, the very first line of Japji Sahib states ‘Ik Onkar’ – ‘There is but One God’. All else is false and Sikhs will not as you suggest just ‘live with it’ when deliberate attempts are being made to malign our religion. As Sikhs we have a strict ‘live and let live’ philosophy, why can’t your Hindutva taliban do the same and just leave us alone?
