DELHI, India—The Indian General who said no to Indira Gandhi when she was planing to attack Harmandar Sahib in 1984 has passed away due to old age. Lieutenant General Srinivas Kumar Sinha passed away naturally, at the age of 90, in Delhi last Thursday.
In 1983, Indira consulted her prized General, who had protected Srinagar from Pakistan, straight after independence. She planned to storm the ‘Golden Temple’ but General Sinha advised against it. She rejected his advice and he was subsequently ousted from his position. He chose not to fight the blatant indiscretion and decided to back away from the army, with his dignity and self-respect intact.
He subsequently became the Governor of Jammu & Kashmir but eventually stepped down from this position too. His thoughts on settling the long standing dispute over J&K was once too often ignored.
ALSO HE SAID THE SIKHS SHOULD SURRENDER TO THE GURU GRANTH SAHIB ….. actually he just advised that the army men take off their shoes, a replica gurdwara be made outside for the “pilgrims” to go inside who were “trapped” (the indian army trapped sikhs inside and did not let them leave), and he wanted the army to cover their heads…. UMMMM WELLL FIRST OF ALL THE ARMY SHOULD NOT HAVE EVEN INVADED PUNJAB AND SIKH GURDWARAS, PERIOD! this man was not some hero, if he was, he would’ve been more outspoken about the atrocities committed by the indian army, it wasn’t about “preserving the sanctuary” at siri darbar sahib, it was about the army coming in and trying to destroy every sikh in their path, destroy historical sikh buildings and burn the sikh museum and library with historical artefacts
