:dateline:Independent legislators from Ludhiana, Simarjit Singh Bains and S. Balwinder Singh Bains, have said theAwaz-e-Punjab (AEP) won’t make alliance with the Aam Aadmi Party if Arvind Kejriwal doesn’t take a strong stand on the SYL-Canal. They asked Kejriwal to clear his stance on the issue.
“The SYL-Canal issue is the biggest issue to the Punjabis and we want Aam Aadmi Party to clarify its stance once and forever on the issue. If Kejriwal doesn’t speak up, it will be hard for us to hold any alliance with them,” Simarjit Bains told Sikh24.
Bains brothers had earlier submitted a memorandum addressed to the Speaker of Punjab assembly at his residence in Chandigarh this past Saturday. Due to the absence of Assembly Speaker, his wife received the memorandum.
MLA Simarjit Singh Bains told Sikh24that the Congress leaders were befooling the Punjab masses by dramatizing a serious issue in wake of upcoming assembly polls. He added that the Congress MLAsshouldhave debated in the Punjab assembly over possible ways to tackle current challenging situation.
Blaming the Shiromani Akali Dal led Punjab government for not representing the case in Supreme Court in good manner, Bains alleged that the Badals have always backstabbed the State for their vested interests.
“We are ready to debate the issue in the special assembly session called on November 16 and will take a stand against the Supreme Court ruling on the Punjab waters,” he told Sikh24.
Bains brothers informed that they will hold a meeting of AEP leaders with SAD MLA Pargat Singh and Dr. Navjot Kaur Sidhu on the matter.
