Let divine love be your sacred food (made as an offering; by doing so) can delusion and fear depart. – Guru Nanak Sahib, Guru Granth Sahib, 355
Message: The focus here is on food. It is necessary for sustenance. Eat right and we remain healthy. Just as our physical body needs the right food, our spiritual side needs divine love. Without a fair share of this, doubts and dual mindedness will play havoc in our mind.
In the hymn from which this verse is taken, Guru Nanak emphasizes on the importance of spiritual sustenance in our life, as opposed to this being replaced by physical symbols and ritual feeding of deities. The Gurus Word, divine wisdom, should be our sustenance so that vices cannot enter and disturb our peace of mind. We have a part to play too, in ingesting this wisdom and growing with it. With a diet of divine love, fear and delusion depart.
Let there be knowledge of the One. Let there be realization that He is within you. You cannot win Him over through ritual actions. You need to read His divine word and contemplate on it. Humble yourself before Him. His love is there for you.
