:dateline:The pro-freedom Sikh outfit Dal Khalsa marked the ’50th Punjab Day’ by paying homage to Sikh martyr S. Darshan Singh Pheruman at his native village Pheruman on November 1. Contrary to the celebrations of ’50th Punjab Day’ by Shiromani Akali Dal led Punjab government, the Dal Khalsa observed the day by dubbing it as 50 years of blood-soaked, weeping and struggling Punjab.�
Shaheed Darshan Singh Pheruman was a Sikh activist who attained martyrdom on October 27, 1969 after 74 days of hunger project�seeking allocation of Chandigarh to Punjab.�
Addressing the gathering on this occasion, Dal Khalsa President Harpal Singh Cheema said that Punjab was reorganized cleverly by the Indian rulers in 1966 were the re-organization snatched Punjabi speaking areas, water resources, capital city Chandigarh and much more from Punjab. �”The waters of Punjab Rivers were being allotted to non-riparian states Rajasthan, Haryana and Delhi through canals and it was very unfortunate that no Punjab government raised demand for royalty against the waters,” he added.
Dal Khalsa spokesperson Kanwarpal Singh said that the Indian state systematically infiltrated drugs and expats into Punjab. �”The youth of Punjab is becoming impotent after getting addicted to the drugs while the expats were being granted citizenship in Punjab by the ruling political parties to get benefit in dominating the assembly elections. �Demographic pattern of Punjab is getting disturbed and the Sikh population is reducing day by day in its own homeland,” he added.
Family members of Shaheed Darshan Singh Pheruman were honoured by the sacked Punj Piares of Sri Akal Takhat Sahib.
Following the function, the Sikh activists of various Sikh bodies took out a freedom march from village Pheruman to Sri Akal Takhat Sahib (Amritsar Sahib) carrying pro-freedom placards and saffron flags in their hands. The youth chanted slogans symbolizing the independent and sovereign Punjab.
Activists of All India Sikh Students Federation (Peer Mohammad), Sikh Federation, Sikh Youth of Punjab, Sri Guru Granth Sahib Satkar Committee were present in the march along with Dal Khalsa team. �Bhai Harpal Singh Cheema (President, Dal Khalsa), S. Kanwarpal Singh (Spokesperson, Dal Khalsa), Bhai Satnam Singh Paonta (Dal Khalsa), Bhai Harcharanjit Singh Dhami (former President of Dal Khalsa), S. Baldev Singh Sirsa (Dal Khalsa), Bhai Sukhjit Singh Khose (Sri Guru Granth Sahib Satkar Committee) and others were present on this occasion.
