Addressing a press conference at New Delhi, President of DSGMC Manjit Singh GK said that the Union government had already appointed Special Investigation Team to re-probe the criminal cases related to 1984 Sikh genocide. He informed that the DSGMC has written a letter to the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to appoint a Civil SIT to probe the property damage cases related to 1984 Sikh genocide.
“We have asked the Prime Minister to release financial compensation worth Rs. 1000 crore for the Sikh genocide victims,” GK said during the press conference.
GK addedthat about 400Kashmiri Pandits fell victim to the armed struggle of Kashmiris from 1990 to 2001. He added that the Kashmiri Pandits had11 years to sell their property in J&K and demobilize to another states. ”However, thousands of Sikhs were brutally massacred and their properties were set ablaze within minutes and they couldnt even save themselves. So, the Sikhs reserves financial compensation,” he added.
We need to work tirelessly toward obtaining justice for the victims of genocide 1984 .
In the mean time we need to Resurrect our selves.so that we can seek justice .
The justice Sikhs are demanding over 1984 genocide is about trying to lessen the pain of the survivors who continue to feel the intolerable anguish to this day (read below Karol Bagh Survivor’s sentiment) by letting them know the murders, rapes and looting down against them were not acceptable and those culprits who committed these heinous crimes will be punished. The innocent lives they took and ruined mattered then and matter now. By denying this justice you add to the pain of the survivors and create a new normal where future miscreants can similarly go and out and murder with state sponsored and incited abandon knowing a precedent has been set that they will not be held to account for their atrocities. We would not have had Gujrat ‘riots’ if those politicians inciting violence had in the back of their minds that we will be arrested after all this and face the death penalty. Your spurious ‘Resurrection’ notion seems to amount to no more than ‘forgive and forget, shrug it all off as it is in the past and be grateful you are alive and able to live a life in the present’. Sikhs cannot do that because such indifference to human suffering and injustice is antithetical to Sikh belief and was the reason why Hindu girls carried off by the Afghan had to be rescued by the Khalsa when their families had given up on them and helplessly submitted to your notion of ‘resurrection’.
DSGMC asking the prime minister to appoint a Civil SIT. Is this a cruel joke or what ? You are again throwing salt on the old wounds. What you want is justice not monetary handouts.Culprits put behind bars. In past thirty two years other than doing lip service what have DSGMC done for those widows or children left behind. DSGMC couldn’t even protect historic water fountain in front of Gurudwara Sis Ganj. Also don’t compare Sikh situation with what is happening in Kashmir two wrongs doesn’t it right. Again what has our SGPC or DSGMC have done for the families of victims killed in fake encounters in Punjab and elsewhere.
Justice and Resurrection are two ways to deal with G-3 .1984
