1984 Sikh Genocide Remembrance March in Moga on November 3

sikhgenocide1984AMRITSAR SAHIB—On the 32nd anniversary of Sikh genocide committed by the Indian state in Delhi during 1984, Sikh organizations will conduct a ‘Genocide Remembrance March’ on November 3 in Moga. Notably, more than 3000 Sikhs were massacred by State sponsored mobs in the Nation’s capital during November-1984 following the assassination of then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.

The march is being led by the All India Sikh Student Federation and the Dal Khalsa.

Addressing a press conference at Amritsar Sahib on October 25, AISSF President Karnail Singh Peer Mohammad stated that the ‘Genocide Remembrance March’ will be taken out in Moga with the support of Dal Khalsa, Sikh Youth of Punjab and other Sikh bodies. He added that beside the activists of their organizations, members of November-1984 Massacre Welfare Society and Sri Guru Granth Sahib Satkar Committee will take part in the march by holding placards, banners and posters paying homage to the innocent massacred by Hindu mobs.

Pained over the delayed justice to victims of 1984 Sikh genocide, Peer Mohammad said that the victim families had been struggling for justice for over 32 years but in return the Indian government had only rubbed salt on their wounds. He appealed the United Nations to intervene to avail justice for Sikh genocide victims.

Dal Khalsa’s spokesperson Kanwarpal Singh said that during November-1984, the claims of India being a secular country were torpedoed by the Congress led Hindu mobs. He added that the Indian state had provided hassle free 72 hours to Hindu mobs for massacring the Sikhs in the National Capital. He maintained that all the police personnel were ordered to remain inactive for 72 hours.  “Sikhs were brutally massacred, set ablaze and murdered in Delhi under the patronage of Indian state,” he added.

  1. In order to get justice from others we have to put our house in order. Whether we like it not SGPC is only world wide known organisation . So we can start with cleaning up SGPC so all the factions can come together and put up a strong common front . Right now some groups are trying to do the right thing by holding Sarbat Khalsa to solve problems facing us while other so called panthic govt is bent on destroying the event. If we are going to kill each other what can we expect from others. Also we should never forget the 1984 genocide and it should be remembered everyday as part of our daily ardass. We had so called sikh prime minister for 10 years what did he do to get justice for sikhs nothing I can recall.
