Two Arrested for Extorting Money Under Name of “Babbar Khalsa Tigers Force”

DHURI—The District police of Sangrur have held two youths for allegedly sending threatening letters to them and extorting money under the name of pro-Khalistan armed body ‘Babbar Khalsa Tigers Force’. The Police claimed to nab the duo culprits while they were trying to extort Rs. 7 million from an industrialist here.

Interacting with the media, Superintendent of Police (Dhuri) Jagatpreet Singh said that the accused had sent a threatening letter to an industrialist on August 28, 2016. Again on October 14, they sent a similar letter to him and asked him to convey Rs. 7 million at Totapuri road. The industrialist reported it about to Police and the duo culprits were arrested when they reached the specified site to receive money. The culprits have been identified as Gurinder Singh and Satwinder Singh of village Dhandra which falls in police constituency of Dhuri.

The police has received their remand to further inquire about the details of extortion attempt.

Similar letters have come to the fore where name of Khalistani organizations has been used to extort money.

  1. All these law breakers hiding under the Garb of Religion and misusing the fair name of Khalsa need to be booked under the law of the land.
