Sarbat Khalsa 2016: Prof. Mohinderpal Singh Meets Jathedar Hawara; Organizers To Hold Statewide Meetings

NEW DELHI—Prof. Mohinderpal Singh of Shiromani Akali Dal Amritsar today visited Jathedar Bhai Jagtar Singh Hawara at the Tihar Jail in New Delhi.  Prof. Singh met with Jathedar Hawara to discuss plans to hold Sarbat Khalsa 2016 this year.

The meeting was held primarily to discuss a recently issued letter by Jathedar Hawara in which he had asked Bhai Satnam Singh Khanda and his Jatha to lead the efforts for Sarbat Khalsa this year.

Speaking about the letter, Prof. Mohinderpal Singh said, “We had a good meeting with Jathedar Bhai Hawara.  It will definitely bring unity within the Panth.  I will disclose the details once I speak with other three Jathedars.”  He did not disclose any details of the meeting but expressed great enthusiasm for Sarbat Khalsa this year.

Bhai Satnam Singh Khanda and his Jatha had called upon a meeting on October 18 in Sector 38, Chandigarh, however, at the same time, the three Sarbat Khalsa jathedars have called meetings in other parts of the State.  As per their schedule announced yesterday, they will be in Bathinda area.

Speaking about the meeting yesterday, Bhai Bagicha Singh said, “We met with Singh sahib Jathedar Jagtar Singh Hawara.  Prof. Mohinderpal Singh and Bapu Gurcharan Singh also met with the Jathedar.  The meeting will bring unity within the Panth.  It will rejoice the entire Panth.  All of our doubts were resolved after the meeting.”

“Jathedar Hawara expressed deep remorse at the passing away of Bhai Joga Singh Khalistani.  He was deeply upset the untimely passing away of Bhai Joga Singh,” Bhai Bagicha Singh said.

    • The majority of the Punjab’s people are Sikhs. The Muslim Punjabi’s cleaved off land to form West Punjab in Pakistan and the Punjabi Hindus did the same in 1966 forming Haryana and forsaking their mother tongue of Punjabi for Hindi at the same time. Clearly then the Punjabi Sikh is the true son of the soil and best suited to ruling in the interests of Punjab.
