PATIALA—Death row convict in Beant “Singh” assassination case Bhai Balwant Singh Rajoana, who is currently languishing in Central Jail of Patiala, has announced to commence hunger strike in protest of delay in his execution. In a letter written to the Superintendent of Central Jail of Patiala on September 26, Bhai Rajoana has said that if the Indian government doesn’t process his execution orders, then he will gill on a indefinate hunger strike starting November.

Bhai Rajoana’s foster sister Bibi Kamaldeep Kaur told Sikh24 that she met Bhai Rajoana in Patiala jail today where he informed her about his move. Sharing a letter written by Bhai Rajoana to the Superintendent of Patiala jail, she informed that the Superintendent was apprised with the move by Bhai Rajoana on September 26.

Translated version of the letter is as follow:

ਜਿਸ ਕੇ ਜੀਅ ਪਰਾਣ ਹਹਿ ਕਿਉ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਮਨਹੁ ਵਿਸਾਰੀਐ॥

(He who owns our soul, and our very breath of life – why should we forget that Lord and Master from our minds?)

ਆਪਣ ਹਥੀ ਆਪਣਾ ਆਪੇ ਹੀ ਕਾਜੁ ਸਵਾਰੀਐ॥

(With our own hands, let us resolve our own affairs.)

Respectable Superintendent,

ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਕਾ ਖਾਲਸਾ ॥ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਕੀ ਫ਼ਤਹਿ॥

As you know I have been languishing in jail for the last 21 years and it has been the start of 10th year of capital punishment addressed to me. The President of India had stayed my execution orders for indefinite time in 2012 in reaction to a petition filed by SGPC without my consent.

I have cleared my stance on punishing Beant “Singh” numerous times by writing letters to the President and Union Home Ministry of India and had urged them to take quick action on my execution orders. When I checked with the Judicial Division-2 via RTI (Right to Information Act) query about delay in my execution orders, I didn’t get a satisfactory response.

After making serial efforts, I have concluded that the delay in execution orders were political rather than legal.

With due respect, I want ask the concerned political personalities that if they don’t take final decision on the petition filed by SGPC about my execution within October, I will start hunger strike in protest of delay in my execution.

With Thanks,

Balwant Singh Rajoana

Cell No. 16

  1. The SGPC is NOT interested in the revival of the Sikh panth. If a bomb were to be dropped on a SGPC general meeting, the Sikh Panth would rejoice and celebrate this kirpa from Waheguru.

  2. Do you know what his sentence is ? what is his legal punishment .May Waheguru bless him. As mentioned above no one belonging to minority can expect justice in that country.

  3. He should not ask for death. He must complete his legal punishment and after that go and settle in any country where he may begin his life afresh.

  4. Vahiguroo Jio kirpa why is innocent suffering in indian prisons, while 1984 Sikh genocide mobs, politicians, and police free…what kind of indian justice is this, that innocent cannot even tolerate harsh and unnecessary imprisonment to ask for death, when HE SHOULD BE FREE?!_/\_
