:dateline:Acting Jathedar Bhai Dhian Singh Mand today attempted to meet with Jathedar Bhai Jagtar Singh Hawara, however, he was not given permission by the Tihar Jail authorities. Bhai Mand arrived in New Delhi today from Punjab and sought to meet with Bhai Hawara to get clarification regarding the letter issued by him over Sarbat Khalsa 2016.
Bhai Mand condemned the attitude of jail authorities. Speaking with Director General of Police (Delhi) Sudhir Yadav, Bhai Mand said that being a former Member of Parliament, he had permission to meet with any inmate. However, DGP Yadav told Bhai Mandthat he would file an application with the Union Home Minister’s office for himso he could meet Bhai Hawara in the coming days.
Similarly, Prof. Mohinderpal Singh from the Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar), who was also supposed to meet Jathedar Bhai Hawara was late for his scheduled appointmentand was also not allowed to hold meeting. He will also meet with Jathedar Hawara in the coming days.
In a letter sent to Advocate Amar Singh Chahal on September 28, Jathedar Hawara had asked the Panj Pyares tolead the Sarbat Khalsascheduled for November 10, 2016 at Talwandi Sabo. In his letter, Bhai Jagtar Singh Hawara has clearly written thatBhai Satnam Singh Khanda, Bhai Major Singh, Bhai Tarlok Singh, Bhai Mangal Singh and Bhai Satnam Singh Khalsa would lead the Sarbat Khalsa 2016 initiative.
However, despite Bhai Hawara’s letter, 2015 Sarbat Khalsa organizers, including the three Jathedars, Shiromani Akali Dal Amritsar and United Akali Dal refused to follow the edict.
