Punjab Government Constitutes ‘Disaster Management Committee’ To Help Border Area Villagers

:dateline:Shiromani Akali Dal led Punjab government constituted a high level ‘Disaster Management Committee’ headed by the Chief Secretary, Sarvesh Kaushal, to tackle with any untoward incident amid ongoing tensions between India and Pakistan.

As per information revealed by a spokesperson of the Punjab government, the Additional Chief Secretary of Home Affairs, evacuation-of-punjab-bordersAdditional Chief Secretary (Education), Additional Chief Secretary (Agriculture), Chief Secretary (Health), Secretary of Public Works Department, Secretary of Irrigation Department, Director General of Police (Punjab), Director General of Police (Law & Order), and Inspector General (Intelligence) have been appointed in the committee to get regular updates from the border area.

The Punjab government’s spokesperson informed Sikh24�that the Committee members underwent a video conference with the Senior Administrates of the six border districts Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Amritsar, Tarn Taran, Ferozepur and Fazilka.

Meanwhile, it has come to light that the Punjab government appointed 1500 constables of Punjab police and Punjab Armed Police as a secondary defense line along the Indo-Pak border. Beside this, the senior bureaucrats of the border districts areas also have been deployed and remain looking after the evacuation of the villages along the border belt.

The Punjab government also ordered the Legislators and Parliamentarians of these constituencies to remain present within the district to help masses who had to evacuate their houses. They have been strictly ordered to sort out the problems of evacuees.
