:dateline:Amid tensions in Indo-Pak relations, the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhik Committee has shifted more than 200 Holy Scriptures of Guru Granth Sahib Ji from the border belt Gurdwaras to the Gurdwaras in Amritsar�and nearby places.
Confirming the development, SGPC Additional Secretary Diljeet Singh Bedi told Sikh24 that the move has been taken to ensure there is no violation of Sikh code of conduct in maintaining the Holy Scriptures of Sri Guru Granth Sahib.
“We have asked the caretakers of the Gurdwaras to temporarily relocate as well. �No one will be left at these Gurdwaras to perform daily seva there. �Therefore, we have�relocated�Holy Scriptures from Gurdwaras of five border districts Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Tarn Taran, Ferozepur and Fazilka,” he informed Sikh24.
The�Indian government had ordered to evacuate 10 kilometres area adjacent to India-Pakistan border on September 29. About 1,000 villages in Punjab have been evacuated till now while majority of border residents of Districts Gurdaspur and Pathankot are opposing the order of evacuation. �Residents of these areas have said that their paddy crop was about to ripen so they can�t leave their residence.
The Badals and SGPC are gunde trying to distract attention from elections in which they are going to lose. Its always sikhs in punjab that suffer – thats right why not Gujrat or any other state. My heart goes out to our brother and sisters where can they go. Its ok for these gunde to say leave your villages but where can they go – how can they take their animals and fasal …. the whole thing is disgraceful and we cannot do anything about it.

All of the above are correct in their assessments, Another question why not evacuate border towns in rest of the country especially Gujarat why only Punjab ?
