Inspector General of Police (counter intelligence) MF Farooqui told Sikh24, In the wake of the attack on RSS leader Jagdish Gagneja, the Punjab Police had launched an operation to nab the culprits and came across this terror module. He informed that Gurpal Singh alias Pala was arrested from Umranangal near Beas and a 9-mm pistol, cartridges and a magazine was recovered from his possession.

MF Farooqui said that during interrogation, it has come to the fore that Major and Gurpal Singh were taking instructions from wanted militantJagdish Singh alias Bhoora, who is based in Belgium. He also claimed that England-based Kuldeep Singh and Jasbir Singh alias Jassi were in touch with them.

“Bhoora was in touch with Pakistan-based militant Ranjit Singh Neeta and other members of Khalistan Zindabad Force who were providing instructions to these men,”MF Farooqui alleged.

The police have indicted trio Sikh youths under provisions of UAPA (Unlawful Activities Prevention Act).

On August 4, 2016, S. Papalpreet Singh, a prominent Sikh activist hadcautioned that in light of recent events, the Punjab police may arrest several Sikh activists in the coming days. Papalpreet Singh was speaking with Sikh24 in relation to the killing of Balwinder Kaur, a woman fromGhawaddi who had desecrated a saroop of Guru Granth Sahib. ”Following number of arrests of Sikh youth in Punjab, I can say for a fact thatthe Government wants to imprison Sikh activists across Punjab to silence their voice,” Papalpreet Singh said.

Just in this past week, the Punjab police had presented5 other Singhs to the court in relation to the attack on the RSS Punjab Vice President.
