Bhai Lakhwinder Singh Lakha released on parole for 42 days

:dateline:Political Sikh prisoner Bhai Lakhwinder Singh Lakha, who is serving life sentence in the Burail Jail was released on parole for 42 days on August 8. �Bhai Lakha is being held�in former Chief Minister Beant Singh assassination case.

Scores of Sikh activists including Bhai Jang Singh (brother-in-law of Bhai Lakhwinder Singh Lakha) and Bhai Bhavandeep Singh (Bandi Singh Rehai Sangharsh Committee) received Bhai Lakha outside the Burail jail premises.

“Khalsa is in chardi kala, what else is there to say,” said Bhai Lakha when asked about his well-being. �He said that Sikh political prisoners are strong in their spirit even after being jailed for decades.

Speaking with Sikh24,�Bhai Lakhwinder Singh Lakha said that Bhai Paramjit Singh Bheora (former CM Beant “Singh” assassination mastermind) has appealed to the Sikh masses to look after Singhs involved in punishing Balwinder Kaur, a culprit responsible for desecration of Sri Guru Granth Sahib at Ghawaddi. He added that the Sikh bodies ought to help the Singhs. �”It is responsibility of all Sikhs and Sikh Jathebandis to come forward to provide legal assistance to these Singhs. �We need to get rid of our egos and join the cause,” Bhai Lakha said.

Bhai Jang Singh told Sikh24�that he had to struggle hard to get Bhai Lakha released on parole. �He said that two bail-bonds worth Rs. 100,000�were�needed for the parole, however, none of the Sikh leaders came forward to help.

Bhai Bhavandeep Singh Sidhu welcomed Bhai Lakha’s parole. �He said he hoped that other Sikh prisoners in the Beant “Singh” assassination case will also find reprieve. �When asked about Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa’s well-being, Sidhu said, “Bapu Ji is in chardi kala and high spirits, but he is not doing well physically.” �He added that Bapu Ji is still strong on his resolve.

It is noteworthy here that Bhai Lakha has been released on parole after about 7 months. Earlier, he�was allowed to return home for a short period in January. �Bhai Lakha will spend majority of his parole at his sister’s house in Ludhiana. �After his parole, he paid obeisance at Gurdwara Amb Sahib. �Bhai Jang Singh said that Bhai Lakha will pay obeisance at Sri Darbar Sahib if provided permission by the authorities.
