


:dateline:Bhai Gurpreet Singh and Bhai Nihal Singh, chief accused of murdering Balwinder Kaur responsible for desecrating Guru Granth Sahib at Ghawaddi village in October 2015, were produced before the Judge Lovejinder Kaur on August 7. �Both Bhai�Gurpreet Singh and Bhai Nihal Singh were�sent to judicial remand till August 20, whilst the police remand of three other framed in the case was extended for one day by the judge.
Appearing before the Court, the prosecution lawyer demanded extension of police remand of trio accused (Harbans Singh, Gurmeet Singh and Jagjit Singh) by claiming that the police have to extract prominent details about the murder. The trio has been framed in the case by imposing UAPA (Unlawful Activities Prevention Act).
All Singhs showed signed of chardi kala as they were produced in the court. Several prominent activsts, including Bhai Sukhjit Singh Khose were present outside the court premise as the Sikhs were brought there.


Talking with Sikh24, Defense lawyer Advocate Jaspal Singh Manjhpur informed that the prosecution lawyer demanded extension in the police remand of all accused Sikh youths but the Judge Lovejinder Kaur didn’t accept his argument. He informed that Bhai Gurpreet Singh and Bhai Nihal Singh have been sent to judicial remand till August 20 while the police remand of other three was extended for one day.
On July 26, a�woman named Balwinder Kaur, accused of sacrilege of Sri Guru Granth Sahib at village Ghawaddi, was today shot dead by two assailants near Ludhiana. �The incident took place when two men riding a motorcycle fired upon Balwinder, leading to fatal wounds.
Balwinder Kaur, aged 48, was in judicial custody since October 2015 for committing sacrilege of Sri Guru Granth Sahib at village Ghawaddi on October 19, 2015, and was out on bail. �She was shot outside the Gurdwara Manji Sahib in Alamgir when she arrived there to meet with someone. �Balwinder was accompanied by her son, who was not targeted during the attack.
Balwinder Kaur and her husband�Sikander Singh were both arrested for committing�sacrilege in October 2015. �While Balwinder was working as a sevadar at the�Ghawaddi Gurdwara for over two decades before she was arrested in connection with the�sacrilege case, her husband was the Granthi there.
