AMRITSAR SAHIB, Punjab—Three corpus of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji caught fire in a Gurdwara Baba Tahil Singh near Mirankot village situated on the outskirts of Sri Amritsar. The incident took place during wee hours of August 6 due to short circuit. As soon as the news scattered, a large number of Sikh activists reached the Gurdwara Sahib. The situation remained calm however, Sikh Sangat was upset by a surge of similar incidents across Punjab.The Police also reached the spot immediately after receiving information of the incident.
Sikh24 learned from the Guru Granth Sahib satkar committee that the incident took place due to short circuit in the ceiling fan installed in the specially made cabin in which three corpus of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji were installed.
TSSP Amritsar (Rural) Jasdeep Singh also confirmed short circuit as the reason behind the fire. He informed Sikh24 that the ceiling fan installed within the specially made cabin used to remain running round the clock. “Due to overheating, the fan resulted in short-circuit causing burning of three holy scriptures of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji,” he added. He said that the police will investigate the incident fully, however at this point, there was no reason to speculate that the fire was caused deliberately.
Meanwhile, SGPC appointed Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib Giani Gurbachan Singh has termed it as a very unfortunate incident. He has said that it was shocking that short-circuits occur only in Gurdwaras and the Gurdwara managements were ignorant still after issuing instructions.
Strange how these short circuits only happen at the Gurdwaras and nowhere else and the situation continues…. Someone is answerable to this continue beadbi of Guru Granth Sahib Ji. The criminals are being protected…..
