Sarbat Khalsa appointed Jathedars announce to initiate anti-drug pilgrimage in Punjab

TARN TARAN, Punjab—As per directions of Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Bhai Jagtar Singh Hawara, the Sarbat Khalsa appointed Jathedars have announced to initiate an anti-drug pilgrimage across Punjab to encourage the youth towards Sikhi. The pilgrimage will start from Sri Fatehgarh Sahib on August 16 and will cover almost all major towns of Punjab during a month long program scheduled to be end on September 15 at Sri Anandpur Sahib.

Addressing the media at Gurdwara Sahib of Rasulpur (Tarn Taran), interim Jathedar Dhian Singh Mand said that drugs and superstitions have engulfed the sacred land of Punjab.  “Youth of Punjab was diverting towards drugs and there is no scope of improvement in dirty politics of Punjab,” he told Sikh24.  “Along with political parties, the SGPC is also fully responsible for the worst condition of Punjab,” Bhai Mand said.

He added that 6 stages are scheduled to be organized during the daily program in which renowned Dhadis, Kavishars and Kirtanis will address the religious discourse to the masses. Jathedar Dhian Singh mand has appealed the Sikh institutions to extend support in this pilgrimage.  1446054__d207077782

  1. I have posted a number of replies to counter RSS Harinder but none of them are being posted. Is Sikh 24 website now censoring Sikhs?

  2. They may preach under pretext of religion.
They will take Punjab back to 1980 -1990 days with Punjab becoming a theocratic state.
It will then get into conflict with the Indian state and the Empire.
Punjab is a multi religious state.
Its problem should be dealt by the elected government and not one religious group.
Alternatively if they want to address the drug problem then they need to take people of other faiths along with them.
In any case Punjab is doomed with Uranium in its water.
Nothing short if building new Punjabs on different parts of Universe will save us.

    • Punjab has never been a theocratic state so you clearly don’t have a grasp of historical facts. Even under the Khalsa Raj of Maharajah Ranjit Singh – the most successful period of governance the Punjab has ever known in its history – the egalitarian principles of Sikhi ensured that the two most senior positions Prime Minister was a treacherous Dogra and the effective Chancellor of the exchequer was a Muslim. As for your contention that Punjab is a multi religious state and so by cynical inference Sikhs can never be masters of their own destiny in their own homeland let me remind you that Punjabi Muslims seceded to form their own state in 1947 and Punjabi Hindus did the same in 1966 to form Haryana. In the latter instance they even forsook their Punjabi mother tongue for Hindi such was their desire to abandon Punjab. Only the Sikhs have maintained an unbroken love for their homeland (they had to put up with sharing their capital city and not have Punjabi accepted as the state’s official language even though no other state in India had to suffer such indignity) even though it has been reduced to a rump of what it was under the Khalsa Raj sovereign Sikh state of Ranjit Singh. The historical and cultural connection between Punjab and the Sikhs is there for all to see in the disproportionate sacrifices they have endured to keep their soil and the fact that they have been and are now the majority population in Punjab means even democratically they are the rightful inheritors of Punjab. Your smug contention that Punjab is now polluted and yet you still will not accept that it belongs to the Sikhs as Sikh heartland and homeland reveals your cynical disregard for Punjab.

  3. Be careful – because sarbat khalsa is going to preach against drugs and bring youth into Sikhi? Some people are already different planet here forget the burning up and going to distance galaxies. Long live the voices of these jathedars taking courage to discourage youth from drugs and things – unlike anyone else in India or indeed the punjab government.

  4. And your comment ‘Learn to co-exist in peace and harmony’ (which echoes the previous post you made stating ‘learn to live in harmony all of you’ to Sikhs)’ – how patronising and condescending of you RSS Harinder considering the Sikh is happy to sit and eat with the Dalit whilst you ideologically are so intolerant of others you can never bring yourself to do the same. Elections are not meant to be an inconvenient rubber stamping exercise you do every few years. You need open debate where opposing points of view can be raised and challenged so that the electorate know who and what they are actually voting for. This means allowing free association and free speech so that hustings can be made around the Punjab so that those seeking public office can present their cases to the masses. Public rallies, protest marches and hartals (or their equivalents such as lowering of flags at half mast, wearing black armbands, public observances of minutes of silence and days of mourning) are all part of the democratic process and happen in every civilised democratic nation of the world. How can you have elections when those who seek to raise an issue of concern or present a manifesto are harassed and arrested on spurious charges, released and rearrested on more spurious charges? You make a mockery of elections by this notion that the incumbent office holder has an unspoken ‘right’ to impair the democratic right of his opponents, even going so far as to stone their cars or even shoot them dead in the street. Why are you so afraid of the electorate that you wish to stop them from peacefully expressing their grievances? Because at heart you are not a democrat but just want to cynically use the legitimacy of elections to mask your autocrat face. As for agitation , anarchy or chaos – the Punjab is in the grip of ethnic cleansing proportioned drug peddling to Sikh jawans, there is repeated beadbi of our Guru and Sikhs who protest that are shot dead by police who are not even suspended from duty let alone arraigned for their crime. We need not your hypocritical admonitions on living in harmony or democracy then although I will defend your right to publish your hate speech on this Sikh website as your words undermine and deconstruct your position more eloquently than I can.

  5. Be Careful .
This initiative has to be done by Punjab and Indian government and not Indian Sarbatt Khalsa elected Akal Takth head.

There are ongoing attempts to push Punjab back into the 1980- 1990 violence and anarchy era.

    The events being

    1) Sacrileges of holy books of different faiths
    2) Targeted attacks of people of Punjab with differing ideologies

Learn to co exist in peace and Harmony .
We all have to escape this earth one day as it is going to burn up along with Indian Punjab in 4 billion years from now .
We need explore to go and build new homes in distant Galaxies by becoming SPACE FARING people.

    • It is not sacrilege of a ‘holy book’ as I have told you dozens of times. It is the descecration of our GURU. As for your insistence Sikhs cannot do anything to resist the ethnic cleansing proportioned drug menace in Sikh homeland but rely instead only on Akali Badal Govt whose members such as Majithia are accused of complicity if not outright involvement in drug peddling – you do not put foxes in charge of hen house.
