:dateline: A Dubai resident, 40-years old Gurpreet Singh, developed a mobile app named “Saakhi- Sikh History & Gurmat” for anyone�to learn about Sikh history. Stories of�the�history of Sikh religion�were�made available in a vocal version for the convenience of the audience.
S. Gurpreet Singh. the developer, claimed that the app was developed by him and was the first one that addresses Sikh history vocally. He informed Sikh24�that all the stories pertaining to the lives of the Sikh masters and Sikh warriors have been made available in this app. The timing of each audio clip ranges from 4 to 6 minutes. He added that a special section called �Question-Answers� was�included in the app in which questions pertaining to the Sikh code of conduct have been answered in the light of ideology enlightened by Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji. Android and iOS users can download the app from the Google Play Store at any time. �
S. Gurpreet Singh wanted to help�preach Sikhism through this mobile app. He informed us that it took six months to complete the app “Saakhi- Sikh History & Gurmat” for his team.�This app presents an innovative way to get connected to Sikhi roots and Khalsa traditions. There is also a section on Sikh photography also included in the app, which is themed on ‘parenting with Sikh values.’�
Some of the most important features of the Saakhi mobile app are listed below:
1) Short audio stories on the life history of 10 Sikh Gurus: Guru Nanak Dev ji, Guru Angad Dev ji, Guru Amar Das ji, Guru Ram Das ji, Guru Arjan Dev ji, Guru Har Gobind ji, Guru Har Rai ji, Guru Har Krishan ji, Guru Tegh Bahadur ji & Guru Gobind Singh ji.
2) Audio stories on the life history of Great & Warrior Sikhs: Baba Banda Singh Bahadur, Bhai Mani Singh, Bhai Sukha Singh Bhai Mehtab Singh, Bhai Bota Singh Bhai Garja Singh, Bhai Taru Singh, Bhai Subeg Singh Bhai Shahbaz Singh, Baba Deep Singh, Jassa Singh Ahluwalia, Giani Ditt Singh, Bhai Jaswant Singh Khalra. 3) Each story is ended with a message that helps relate past history with modern times and recent times of Punjab & the larger sikh community.
4) Gurbani Paath of Japji, So dar & Sohila.
5) Sawaal Jawaab: This sections gives answers to the questions on gurmat and the sikh way of life, in the light of true baani of Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji. This will be updated with more questions in the coming time.
6) Audio stories are narrated in Punjabi.
7) Sikh Photography: Anyone can send their pictures to [email protected]. Selected pictures will be included in the app. The theme of photography is ‘parenting with sikhi values.’
