:dateline:Sarbat Khalsa organizations have announced to observe the 76th martyrdom anniversary of the freedom fighter Shaheed Udham Singh on July 31st. Shaheed Udham Singh sacrificed his life while struggling against the oppressive regimes of British rules. He was hanged on July 31, 1940 for assassinating Michael O’Dwyer, the former Lieutenant Governor of Punjab in British India, on 13 March 1940. The assassination is portrayed as avenge of the Jallianwala Bagh massacre.
Talking with Sikh24�s correspondent, the�Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) President from Shahkot circle, S. Sulakhan Singh, informed us that the martyrdom anniversary would be observed at Gurdwara Sri Guru Singh Sabha of Shahkot. Following the culmination of Sri Sukhmani Sahib, Dhadi Jathas will address the religious discourse on this occasion. �S. Simranjit Singh Mann will also attend the anniversary� he added.
Meanwhile, the Chief Organizing Secretary of the Youth Akali Dal Amritsar, S. Papalpreet Singh, reached Shahkot on July 11th to go through the arrangements that need to be made to observe the 76th martyrdom anniversary of Shaheed Udham Singh. S. Papalpreet Singh said that the Youth Akali Dal Amritsar will cooperate to mark the martyrdom anniversary. Youth Secretary S. Navdeep Singh Amritsar, S. Gursharan Singh Sohal, and S. Harjap Singh were also present on this eve.
