Despite apology, AAP leader Khetan booked for hurting Sikh Sentiments

:dateline:As the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is focusing on gaining power in Punjab, its troubles are however increasing day by day. �After registration of case against its MLA Naresh Yadav in Malerkotla Quran sacrilege incident, another�senior leader Ashish Khetan has also been booked for hurting Sikh sentiments on complaint of All India Sikh Students Federation (AISSF) president Karnail Singh Peer Mohammad.

During a rally led by AAP�s national convener and Delhi �chief minister Arvind Kejriwal at Amritsar on July 3, Khetan compared the Youth Manifesto released on the occasion, with Guru Granth Sahib, Bhagwad Gita and Quran Sharif. �His wording was, �This manifesto is our Guru Granth Sahib, Gita and Quran�, which created controversy. The AAP leader apologized next day, however, several have continued to express distress over the statement.

A case was registered against him under section 295-A of Indian Penal Code (IPC) in civil lines Police station in Amritsar on Wednesday late night, said Amar Singh Chahal, Police commissioner of Amritsar.

Peer Mohammad said that for Khetan�s statement, Kejriwal should have apologizes being party chief, but he did not do so. �It suggests that the party did not take this issue seriously. So, we decided to lodge a complaint against his party leader�, he added.�
