:dateline:The Supreme Court of India reportedly dismissed the PIL (Personal Interest Litigation) seeking ban on the popular messaging application Whatsapp in India. The PIL was moved by a Haryana based RTI activist in the apex court that was scheduled to be heard on June 29th.
Rejecting the petition, a bench of the Supreme Court advised the petitioner to approach appropriate authorities as it was not in its jurisdiction to entertain this petition.
The petitioner contended in the petition that the addition of the new End to End Encryption feature made the messages untraceable for security agencies of India. He contended that the disruptive elements could easily communicate to furnish their planning in India.
