So many beings have been created by the Creator; if as many more were to be created by Him even then they would not be able to describe (His priceless attributes) completely. – Guru Nanak Sahib, Guru Granth Sahib, Page 06
Message:The second part of stanza 26 mentions the numerous attempts made by various people to describe the Creator. Guru Nanak makes it clear that a finite entity like a human cannot define or describe an Infinite Entity in totality.
He illustrates that numerous readers of scriptures, scholars, and sages; deities likeBrahma, Indra, Krishna,Shiva, Siddhas, etc. and demons (so to say) tried to assess the virtues of the Transcendent. Countless others depart from the world while still trying to do so. Not only that, if the Creator were to create many more such people, even then they would not be able to assess His infinite attributes fully.
His greatness is immense. He can become as great as He wishes to be (the universe is still expanding!). Hence, only He Himself knows His own greatness. If any boastful person claims that he knows how great He is, then consider him to be a fool.
Be in awe, do not boast.
