Prof. Mohinderpal Singh: Allow Bhai Paramjit Singh Bheora to perform final rites of his father

dateline:Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) General Secretary and prominent Sikh leader Prof. Mohinderpal Singh told Sikh24 that he has appealed the Government to allow Bhai Paramjit Singh Bheora to attend his father’s funeral.  Bhai Bheora’s father S. Jagjit Singh passed away this past Monday, May 23.  While Prof. Mohinderpal Singh expressed condolence to the family, he asked that Bhai Paramjit Singh Bheora be allowed to perform his father’s final rites.

Bhai Bheora is currently lodged at Delhi’s Tihar Jail in relation to the assassination of former Punjab Chief Minister Beant “Singh” and the Burail Jail Break case.  “We deeply regret the passing away of S. Jagjit Singh.  S. Jagjit Singh’s passing away is a great loss not only for the family, but for the entire Panth,” Prof. Mohinderpal Singh said.

Prof. Mohinderpal Singh appealed the Government to allow Bhai Bheora to attend his father’s funeral on basis of human rights.

On May 20, Prof. Mohinderpal Singh also paid a visit to Bhai Ranjit Singh Dhadrianwale at Gurdwara Parmeshwar Dwar, on Patiala-Sangrur Road. This visit was in regards of Bhai Dhadrianwale surviving a deadly attack near Ludhiana.

Strongly condemning the deadly attack on Bhai Ranjit Singh Dhadrianwale, Prof. Mohinderpal Singh said that the assailants didn’t attack Bhai Dhadrianwale under the influence of emotions. The attack, on the other hand, was a highly planned one. Demanding the immediate arrest of assailants, Prof. Mohinderpal Singh insisted that the Punjab government pursue this, as this is their responsibility to bring the accused to justice.

Refuting the involvement of any pro-Khalistan faction, Prof. Mohinderpal Singh said that the assailants had recited pro-Khalistan slogans in attempt to defame pro-Khalistan factions. He added that all the pro-Khalistan parties are fully responsible about the security of the Sikhs and they can’t perform any such action.

It may be recalled here that the caravan of Bhai Ranjit Singh Dhadrianwale was attacked by some unknown assailants in the evening of May 17 near Mullanpur Dakha when the conclave was on its way to village Isewal for Diwan. The assailants fired many gunshots but Bhai Dhadrianwale escaped the deadly attack. However, his aide Bhai Bhupinder Singh was shot dead.
