PATIALA, Punjab—In a press statement shared with Sikh24 on May 9, Bhai Ranjit Singh Dhadrianwale condemned change of amrit sanchar maryada and ardas by certain individuals. Bhai Dhadrianwale has said that such changes cannot be allowed, regardless of the individual committing them.
“It is extremely important that Sikhs should watch out for such people and these professors who are propagating not to read Jaap Sahib, Tav-Prasad Savaiye, Benti Chaupai, who have attempted to alter the ardas. It is extremely important that Sikhs should remain united against their attempts to twist the traditions and their attempts to create some new maryada,” he stated.
“These people do not have the power to question and defy the Amrit ceremony traditions. Sikhs must continue to recite their Nitnem as it has always been recited and not fall prey to the twisted views of these few people. Bhai Ranjit Singh Khalsa said until now these people have been preaching to keep the Sikh Rehat Maryada intact, but now they themselves are shredding it apart. Who has given them the authority to change the Maryada?”
Bhai Ranjit Singh’s comments have come in response to recent ‘amrit sanchaar’ performed at a Gurdwara in Virginia, where amrit was prepared without reading all 5 amrit banis. The Gurdwara granthi Kuldeep Singh furthered altered wording of ardas’ first stanza. This move has been condemned by Sikh organizations worldwide.
Bhai Ranjit Singh repeated his stance on nitnem and amrit sanchaar banis at a recently held diwan where he condemned individuals who were changing Sikh Rehit Maryada.

You are not the only one who is confused. We need a Sarbat khalsa congergation to settle lot of these issues. Please educate yourself before calling anyone agent of rss etc. What maryada are we talking about.? Do we have one guru ? Guru Granth Sahib ji If that is the case what is happening at Nanded and Patna. please don’t tell me the other book ( I don’t have the heart to call it a granth) is opened on the left or right of the Guru Granth Sahib Ji or it is kept at a lower level if that makes any difference.Why these parcharaks ,ie Ranjit Singh etc go after them and have this book removed from those gurudwaras? Our Gurus were very enlightened so to avoid any confusion Guru Gobind singh ji established Guru Granth Sahib ji as our Guru. Aren’t we insulting Guru Gobind Singh ji by following something which is not part of Guru Granth Sahib ji . I understand panth can decide which other writings can be sung in the gurudwaras That’s why it becomes extremely important that we should from time to time have these Sarbat Khalsa Congergations and decide on these vital issues. Our elders with the information they have came up with the maryada which is being followed, but with the new evidence coming concerning the writings included in the maryada it is only fair that we should look at the facts and decide what is right and what is wrong and then follow it.

These individuals are not professors but agents of the enemy RSS – they should be boycotted and all must be put to shame and brought before the Akaal Takhat for punishment so that no one can even think about changing the Sikh Maryada. Bhai Ji Ranjit Singh is absolutely right in what he says.
