FATEHGARH SAHIB, Punjab—Former Member of Parliament from Punjab, Rajdev Singh Khalsa has resigned from the Rashtriya Sikh Sangat (RSS).  Rajdev Singh was appointed to be in charge of the Rashtriya Sikh Sangat in Malwa region last year in July.  Rajdev had announced that he would join the controversial organization in the presence of its president Gurcharan Gill, patron Charanjiv Singh and Punjab unit president Gurbachan Singh Mokha and other prominent RSS officials.

Rashtriya Sikh Sangat is the Sikh wing of the Rashtriya Swamsewak Sangh, which is attempting to bring different minorities of India, including Sikhs, into the “Hindu Nation”.  Rashtriya Sikh Sangat claims that Sikhs are keshadhari Hindus.

Now declaring the RSS a “dangerous” organization, Rajdev Singh has given his resignation letter to the RSS.  He was joined by members of the local Sikh Sangat and several prominent Damdami Taksal leaders when he resigned.

“Activities of the Rashtrya Sikh Sangat are very dangerous to the Sikh Panth.  I see no other option but to resign from my post.  RSS is always planning to destroy Sikhi and Sikh ideology.  I realized this during my tenure with them,” Rajdev Singh said after giving his resignation on Monday, April 25.

Rajdev Singh called upon the Sikh Panth to remain aware of the RSS. He said that he had joined in order to make peace between mainstream Sikhs and the RSS. However, he realized that the RSS was bent on destroying Sikhi. He said that he would provide details about the anti-Sikh activities of the RSS in the coming days.

In response to Rajdev Singh’s resignation, Dal Khalsa leader Sarbjeet Singh Ghuman said, “The Sikh Nation never had any doubts over RSS’s anti-Sikh activities.  Their activities are well known to everyone.  However, when RSS appoints educated people like Rajdev Singh as its officials, it makes the Sikh psyche suffer.  It makes us wonder that if our leaders join hands with our enemies, than what will be the state of the Panth?”

After joining hands with the RSS in 2015, Rajdev Singh had stated that RSS centers would be opened through-out Punjab, with branches in all villages.  Rajdev Singh Khalsa was elected as member of Parliament from Sangrur Lok Sabha segment in 1989 from Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) and has remained a respected personality among Panthik circles for over a decade.  Various Sikh leaders were astonished at his shift toward a Hindu right wing ideology. They termed his move as “suicidal” as the RSS has been trying to eliminate minorities in the Indian sub-continent through the central government.

  1. Let people live happily together .
Religion has capacity to bring violence on peaceful co existing people .We need to keep all religious hot heads under control. No one really understands or can define GOD in totality.

    • People will live happily together (as they did under Sikh auspices of the Khalsa Raj of Ranjit Singh’s Sikh Empire for example) if you respect the right of other people to follow whatever religion they like and don’t try to interfere in their religion’s affairs (such as attacking their shrines, subverting their religious institutions as has been happening with Akali Badal and SGPC). On April 28th in Madhya Pradesh following allegations by right wing group Bajrang Dal that a bride and groom to be had converted to Christianity unlawfully, the Madhya Pradesh Police stopped the wedding ceremony of this couple in the church. The couple to wed had converted to Christianity four years ago the police said said. However, they did not inform the district authorities about the conversion, making it a ‘crime’ under the anti-conversion legislation of the state! The spokesperson of the Church, Mariyosh Joseph rubbished the charges claiming that the couple is Christian. He alleged RSS and Bajrang Dal were behind the complaint.
‘No one really understands or can define God in totality’ – Sikhism teaches there are many paths to God’s house (thus we feel no need as Sikhs to go and convert anybody and have a live and let live philosophy) but through Gurmat one can certainly attain His grace.
