Simranjit Singh Mann claims Badal cannot challenge the Sarbat Khalsa

2016-03-25_mann:dateline:The president of Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar), S. Simranjit Singh Mann, has said that constitutionally the SGPC elections of 2011 dont hold any legal validity, which means that SGPC members elected through this election cannot challenge the institution of the Sarbat Khalsa. He also clarified that the Badal-appointed SGPC President or Jathedars could notcall Sarbat Khalsa.

S. Mann said that the Badals had crossed every limit in committing atrocities againstthe organizers of the Sarbat Khalsa 2015. He added that the Badal government and the SGPC used every strategy they could to try to make the Sarbat Khalsa 2015 fail, but the Sikh community attended it despite huge obstacles.

He added that the Badal appointed Jathedars were rejected by a congregation of about 7 lakh Sikhs and new Jathedars were appointed along with severalresolutions which were instatedto preserve the communitys honor. He saidthat history wouldbe repeated in the Sarbat Khalsa 2016, to be held on November 10, 2016.

S. Mann has hinted at contesting the upcoming 2016 SGPC elections, in addition to 2017 MLA elections in Punjab. He fielded contests unsuccessfully during the 2011 SGPC elections, as well as Punjab Legislative Assembly elections.

    • The Sarbat Khalsa has only ever been held in the Sikh homeland of Punjab down through the centuries. Sikhs from different countries are all part of the one and same kaum.

  1. Without a constitution the Institute of Sarbatt Khalsa will not be able to carry out its Goals.
    It will become chaotic .

    • The Sarbat Khalsa is not an institute or institution but a public gathering of Sikhs from all walks of life who debate and decide over matters concerning Sikh affairs. That is where it gets its democratic legitimacy from and it will achieve its goals much the same way peaceful street protests and public outcry India changed the institutionalised patriarchal minds and mysgyonist response from politicians, judiciary and police (all set in their ways) to widespread rape cases across India.

    • Sarbat Khalsa needs non Sikhs and apostate Sikhs to keep their noses out of Sikh affairs. The SGPC and Akali Badal have a constitution and look what corruption has happened to those bodies.

      • Both SGPC and Akali Badal have proven themselves repeatedly to be beyond reform. Just recently SGPC created a committee to look into attacks against Sikhs abroad and had a blindman’s ‘foresight’ to appoint absolutely no NRI Sikhs who actually live in those countries abroad and Deputy of Akali Badal and Heir apparent Sukhbir was caught frolicking in his garden without his turban celebrating Holi (a Hindu festival) instead of Hola Mohalla (a Sikh festival). When a limb is infected with gangrene you have no choice but to amputate it to save the body. As for your cynical contention that these bodies just need TIME to reform themselves I would remind other readers that you think 4 BILLION YEARS is a short period of time! so your notion of giving them time effectively means do nothing but accept the status quo.
