Suspects Detained in Germany Gurdwara Bomb Blast Case;Sikh Organizations Seek Strict Action

Gurdwara Germany, Essen 1:dateline:Several Sikh organizations have asked the German authorities to take swift action following�the Essen Gurdwara bomb blast.The explosion�injured three people,�including the priest of the gurdwara.�

Sikh Sadhbhawna Dal, which is headed by Bhai Baldev Singh Wadala, condemned the attack. �Bhai Wadala, who�is currently touring Los Angeles, stated that the incident was unfortunate. �He sought speedy investigations in the case and called for stern action against the culprits. He asked the Sikh Sangat of Germany to stay strong.

SGPC President Avtar Makkar also condemned the incident and asked authorities to take strict action. �He said that Sikhs are hard working and peaceful people. �He said that any attack on a Sikh Gurdwara is an unfortunate incident. �Giani Gurbachan Singh, SGPC appointed Jathedar of Akal Takht Sahib, also condemned the incident.

Dal Khalsa urged the German government, through its New Delhi based ambassador, to investigate�the case of the explosion and arrest�the culprit as early as possible. �In a letter sent to the ambassador, the party�s secretary for political affairs, Kanwar Pal Singh, said that in the current international atmosphere, when the Sikh identity was at the receiving end of hate crimes across the globe, this unfortunate incident had further disturbed the community.

“We, the Sikh population in Punjab and elsewhere were worried as this deliberate and mysterious act has created a climate of fear among the diaspora,” Kanwar Pal Singh said.

After the bomb attack on Gurdwara Nanaksar Satsang Darbar in Essen, the police arrested two suspects in the early hours of Wednesday, April 20. On Tuesday mugshots were published of two suspects following which references to the two men from Essen and Bochum were received leading to the arrests, a police spokesman said.

The photos were published after evaluation of several hours of video from surveillance cameras . Details of those arrested have not been disclosed.
