Risk Management Project Launched Following Bomb Attack on Germany Gurdwara

:dateline:Safer Sikhs Partnership is pleased to announce the launch of a project addressing risk management and the protection of buildings and people within Sikh organisations, institutions and Gurdwaras across the UK.

A team of experienced individuals led by Sikh Police Officers and risk management experts has been assembled by Safer Sikhs Partnership to produce protocols, policies, procedures and publicity materials on risk management and protection of buildings and people.��It is anticipated that documents will be ready for launch in the summer followed by training provided for operational teams and key individuals within Sikh organisations, institutions and Gurdwaras across the UK.

Chair of the Safer Sikhs Partnership, Bal K Sandhu said, �The Safer Sikhs Partnership has been holding discussions for some time with experts in this field of how we can improve understanding and practice within our organisations and community of this important area of work.��The bomb attack on a Gurdwara in Germany and a number of other high profile incidents against Gurdwaras and Sikhs in countries across the world serves to illustrate the importance of this proactive work in the UK.��We are keen to improve understanding of these issues across our community and to provide simple practical help to our institutions.�

Team member and retired Police Officer, Kashmira Singh Mann, said �Many of us who are professionals in this work are concerned by recent events and wish to support our community by providing this much needed seva (voluntary service).��We are creating a number of work streams to develop this work and to help deliver easily implemented guidance.��We have already received a great deal of encouragement and support and look forward to working with Sikh communities across the UK.�
