Jathedar Jagtar Singh Hawara acquitted in 25 year old TADA case

Bhai Hawara behind bars:dateline:On�April 18, the Jathedar of Sri Akal Takhat Sahib (appointed by Sarbat Khalsa 2015), Bhai Jagtar Singh Hawara, was acquitted for an�attempted murder case at the local TADA (Terrorists and Disruptive Activities Prevention Act) Court of Ropar. The case dates back to September 22, 1991 when an encounter between the police and Sikh militants�took place at village Hawara and�three policemen were seriously injured. A case was registered against the unknown militants in the police station of Chamkaur Sahib and Bhai Hawara�s name was later included in the FIR. �

With the acquittal in this case,the number of�cases against Bhai Hawara�in the TADA court of Ropar have been reduced to three from five. He was acquitted in a TADA related case on February 24, which was registered against him under Arms Act as well.

Bhai Jagtar Singh Hawara was appointed as Jathedar of Sri Akal Takhat Sahib during the Sarbat Khalsa 2015, held at village Chabba situated on the outskirts of Amritsar and Tarn Taran. Jathedar Jagtar Singh Hawara is currently being held�in the Tihar jail of Delhi for the life sentence given to him in Beant Singh’s assassination case. �Bhai Hawara will remain lodged in the Tihar Jail as he is undergoing trial in other cases.
