Former Akali Leaders Welcomed by Aam Aadmi Party

JALANDHAR, Punjab—Aam Aadmi Party state convener Sucha Singh Chhotepur welcomed two former Akali leaders.  Resham Singh Thiara (Former President of Shiromani Akali Dal Badal from Nawanshehar) and Dr. Manjit Singh Randhawa (Former President of P.C.M.S. Association) joined the Aam Admi Party on April 16 at Jalandhar.  Sucha Singh Chhotepur said that inclusion of Thaira and Randhawa would give a boost to the party in their respective areas.

Both appreciated Chhotepur’s gesture and stated that they joined Aam Aadmi Party due to its policies.

Welcoming the newly inducted leaders, Sucha Singh Chhotepur said that the Punjab masses are fed up of the corrupt Akali government. He said that Punjab will be made corruption free if AAP is able to secure victory during 2017 elections.

Resham Singh Thiara was once considered a close aid of Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Badal, however he has been sidelined by the Akali Dal in recent years.  Thaira was denied ticket in past two assembly elections after he had lost in 2002.

After the conference, Chhotepur stated that in the coming months, several leaders of other political parties would be joining AAP, however, they will be given tickets after taking the volunteers into confidence.  Chhotepur’s move to include members of other political parties has been condemned by its volunteers.
