:dateline:Deputy Chief Minister of Punjab and President of Shiromani Akali Dal, Sukhbir Singh Badal, is traversingtheMajha regionthese days, in preparation for the upcoming assembly elections of 2017. The leadership of the ruling Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal) is making every possible effort to bevictorious in the upcoming assembly elections. The staunch stand of Shiromani Akali Dal on the contentious SYL-Canal issue and on abolishing Sehajdhari votes in SGPC elections, along with other such other stances mayimprovethe partys image.
As part of this effort, Badalvisitedthe memorial installed in memory of the martyrs of Operation Blue Star, which is named afterSant Jarnail Singh Ji Khalsa Bhindranwale. The memorial was installed on the left side of Sri Akal Takhat Sahib in 2013 amidst controversy.
After visiting the memorial, Sukhbir Badal took on AAP Chief and Chief Minister of Delhi, Arvind Kejriwal, for his inconsistencyon the matter of theSYL-Canal construction. Badal said that during his visit to Punjab, Kejriwal tried to deceivethe people of Punjab by saying that AAP was against the construction of the SYL-Canal. However, in court, the counsel of Delhi’s government had backed Haryanas arguments against Punjab, and thus indirectly supported the canals construction.
