Bhai Sukhjit Singh Khose: Akhare wont be allowed on Vaisakhi

:dateline:Sri Guru Granth Sahib Satkar Committee sevadarBhai Sukhjit Singh Khose, has stated that Akhare, or stage performancesof folk artists, wont be allowed on the occasion of Vaisakhi this year. Bhai Khoses statement isin support of Eknoor Khalsa Fauj, an organizationdetermined to stop the Akharas organized each year in village Dialpura Bhaika of Bathinda constituency.

Last Friday, the Eknoor Khalsa Fauj resolved to ensure Vaisakhi remained a religious occasion forSikhs. The organization appealed to Panthik Jathebandis to support their initiative.

Akharas are organized each year in places related to Mai Rajjiand Baba Guddarh following the culmination of Sri Akhand Path Sahib on Vaisakhi. In many villages of Punjab, the trend of organizing Akharas following culmination of Sri Akhand Path Sahib is usual.

In 2015, followers of Mai Rajjiand Baba Guddarh organized an akhara inside the premises of a Gurdwara in Bathinda, where a singer named Dilpreet Dhillon, along with his crew, sang immodest songs. Dhillon was accompanied byseveral performers and dancers who performed as attendees watched.

Bhai Khose said that aviolation of the Sikh code of conduct is beingcommitted by the locals of Dialpura Bhaika. He saidthat afterthe culmination of Sri Akhand Path Sahib on the eve of Vaisakhi, the Akharas are organized to entertain those who have gathered there.

He asserted that his organizationwould be taking any steps necessary to control anyviolation of the Sikh code of conduct there. Hesaidthat the Guru Granth Sahib Satkar Committee is fully committed to preserving the satkar of Guru Granth Sahib and will continue working to stop anti-Sikh elements from increasing their activities in Punjab.
