ANANDPUR SAHIB, Punjab—Former Hazoori Ragi of Sri Harmandir Sahib, Bhai Baldev Singh Wadala on March 22 organized a large scale seminar here aimed at “Gurdwara Sudhar Lehar”. Bhai Wadala is looking for support to carry out a Gurdwara reform movement across Punjab.
At the seminar, Bhai Wadala said that the current management of Gurdwaras are harmful to Sikh traditions and principles. “The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee is currently working on footsteps of Narain Mahant, who at one time controlled Nankana Sahib. We need to restart the Gurdwara reform movement and rise above personal agendas in the SGPC Gurdwara elections,” he appealed.
Several prominent Sikh leaders were among the crowd which numbered close to 10,000. Shiromani Committee member from Haryana, Bhupinder Singh Assandh also attended the seminar and talked about the problems of the Haryana Sikh Gurdwara management.
Unanimously, six resolutions were passed at the seminar –
- Establish a system and policies to manage over Gurdwaras
- Guru Granth Sahib desecration accused be given severest punishments
- Celebrate Vaisakhi as Khalsa Day so the Khalsa spirit can be re-ignited
- Gurdwaras should play prominent role in eradicating apostasy, drug addiction, female feticide, corruption, unemployment, anti-Sikh rituals, and provide free education and medical centers
- Only practicing Amritdhari Sikhs should control over the Gurdwaras and Sikh youth should be given prominence in management and seva
- Badal family was blamed for misusing Sikh institutions in their own favour which led to downfall of Sikh standards in Gurdwaras
Under the banner of “Sikh Sadhbhawna Dal” Bhai Wadala announced that the Gurdwara reform movement will be launched at local levels with Gurmat parchar and amrit sanchar ceremonies.
Bhupinder Singh from Fatehgarh Sahib said, “During the past, all Panthik groups united to stop Guru Granth Sahib desecration. This was done with common interest for the community. Now, we again need to rise above Jathebandis and unite to reform our Gurdwaras.”
Bhai Wadala has held similar programs in other places as well. He had earlier held a meeting at Sri Fatehgarh Sahib and then at Agampura.
The SGPC on the other hand has issued a strict warning to Bhai Baldev Singh Wadala. He has been told to not interfere in SGPC management affairs, else he would not be allowed to do seva at SGPC controlled Gurdwaras. Bhai Wadala was earlier removed as the Hazoori Ragi of Sachkhand Sri Harmandir Sahib after he protested against appointment of Harcharan Singh as the chief secretary of the SGPC. Bhai Wadala had alleged that the Gurdwara Act of 1925 had no provision to hire a chief secretary.

Not much time is left? 4 BILLION YEARS! The human race will have evolved if not become naturally extinct before then. Use your time and God given opportunity in this life as a human being to learn how to get into Waheguru’s grace and stop worrying about trying to extend your lifetime – quality not quantity.
Scientists think that the Earth is 4.54 billion years old. Coincidentally, this is the same age as the rest of the planets in the Solar System, as well as the Sun. Of course, it’s not a coincidence; the Sun and the planets all formed together from a diffuse cloud of hydrogen billions of years ago. There is evidence that living things existed on Earth at least 3,500 million years ago – we are not even talking about dinosaurs at this stage but primitive micro-cellular life, certainly NOT Human beings! Homo sapiens (the only extant species of its genus) appeared on the earth in basic form approximately 150 to 260 THOUSAND (NOT BILLION!) years ago and has evolved in this time to create you. Well maybe ‘evolve’ is stretching it a bit considering the primitive views and beliefs you still cling to. Although it is very tempting to send you into space my Sikh conscience tells me the last thing the universe needs is for you and others of similar ilk to spread out into the cosmos – at least on earth you are quarantined.
Space faring is about nothing more than jingoism for a country like India – a chance for politicians like Modi to divert the attention of the masses away from real social inequality and have them blindly dancing to the drums of nationalism. Tell me how do you justify spending millions if not billions on space research when India is still receiving foreign aid payments from other countries to address its poverty, sanitation, pollution and lack of education? Have some self respect and compassion for your fellow citizens – they need dignity on earth not flags which can’t even flap on the moon. And stop worrying about what happens in 4 billion years time and concern yourself with what you are going to do by the end of your own lifetime when you have to account to Waheguru for your behaviour in the three score years and ten he has afforded you on this planet.
Can anyone truly argue that the SGPC are fit for purpose organisation anymore? Through their auspices drugs are being sold at Hola Mohalla whilst their patron Sukhbir Badal is ‘celebrating’ holi at his residence in direct contravention of why Guru Gobind Singh created the Hola Mohalla festival in the first place. This same SGPC under apostate Makkar is also contending to tamper with direct court evidence – not to mention historical proof – by deciding to ‘renovate’ the Teja Singh Samundri Hall inside Sri Harminder Sahib (the ‘Golden Temple’ to the ignorant and uninitiated, you know who you are) which has been kept as evidence to show the over 1000 crore damages which the SGPC filed (in 1998 under former SGPC head Gurcharan Singh Tohra) in a case against central government in its 1984 attack. Both are pernicious attempts to rewrite Sikh history by an apostate puppet who dares call the Panj Pyare nothing more than ’employees’.
