:dateline:In a letter addressed to the President of India on March 14, 2016,�Bhai Balwant Singh Rajoana wrote that�his�capital punishment was a political tactic. The�capital punishment of Bhai Balwant Singh Rajoana was delayed in March 2012 on the appeal of the SGPC.

Bhai Rajoana said that he has been imprisoned for 21 years�and the court hasn�t been able to reach a conclusion�on his case until�now.
“I have been imprisoned for over 20 years since my arrest on December 22, 1995, in relation to assassination of Beant (former Chief Minister). �I was sentenced to death on July 31, 2007 and my sentence was reaffirmed by the Punjab & Haryana High Court on October 11, 2010. �I have not filed any appeal in regards to my execution sentence”, Bhai Rajoana stated in the letter.
Further in the letter, Bhai Rajoana�asked the President of India why he was�listening to�appeals made by the Punjab government and the SGPC about his punishment,�when he�himself hadn’t�made any such�appeals. �Bhai Rajoana questioned the president under�provisions in�Section 3 of the Right to Information Act.�
