:dateline:President of All India Sikh Students Federation, Karnail Singh Peer Mohammad, saidthat those responsible for desecration of Sri Guru Granth Sahib should be indicted under section 302 (murder) of Indian Penal Code in addition tosection 295-A (instigating religious sentiments).

Karnail Singh Peer Mohammed made this statement on March 12 while commenting on the beadbi atRam Dewali Musalmana near Sri Amritsar.

Peer Mohammad said that the arrest of the culprits on the spot duringthe recent desecration incident at village Ram Diwali Musalman near Amritsarhelped to calm theSikh masses. Several similar incidents came to the fore last year, however no victims were arrested, which led the Sikh community worldwide toa great distress.

He also added that it was necessary for the police to findthe conspirators working behind the culprits. He saidthat the punishment for the beadbishouldset a standard that would deter such acts in the future.
