JALANDHAR, Punjab—Sikhs leaders paid tribute to Shaheed Bhai Raminderjeet Singh Tainee and his wife, Shaheed Bibi Manjit Kaur, in Jalandhar on the 23rd anniversary of their martyrdom. Following the culmination of Sri Sehaj Path at their former residence, an event was held in Gurdwara Singh Sabha of Jalandhar.

Family members of Shaheed Bhai Raminderjit Singh Tainee and Bibi Manjit Kaur Babbar thanked the sangat and the speakears who attend the program.

All the leaders were honoured with Siropas and mementos of Sant Jarnail Singh Ji Khalsa Bhindranwale by the brother of Shaheed Bhai Raminderjit Singh Tainee, Bhai Kanwalcharanjit Singh Happy. Sikh literature and CDs about current the ongoing Sikh struggle were distributed among the attendees by Sikh Youth Federation Bhindranwala.

On March 5, 1993, Bhai Raminderjit Singh Tainee and his wife Bibi Manjit Kaur were martyred near Khanna during an encounter with the police, who attacked the bus they were travelling in to visit Anandpur Sahib.  Both husband and wife played a key role in the Sikh freedom movement after the Indian Army invasion of Sri Darbar Sahib.  They were prominent and well respected in Jalandhar area.  While both were involved in the Sikh freedom movement, they are regarded by several local Hindus families, who, to this day, continue to attend their martyrdom anniversary programs.
