Dr. Dharamvira Gandhi: National Universities Under Attack of Government and Hindutva

:dateline:Dr. Dharamvira Gandhi, MP from Patiala (Punjab), along with an eminent social activist Aruna Roy, yesterday, addressed a huge gathering of students at the JNU campus.� JNU campus was recently in the limelight due to the police crackdown on student activists there.

Dr. Gandhi in his speech expressed his solidarity with the struggling students of JNU, Hyderabad Central University (HCU) and several other institutions of higher learning of the country. �He said that these institutes were�under attack by the government and forces advancing the Hindutva agenda in the country at the cost of democratic, secular and pluralist character of India.

Dr. Gandhi condemned the sedition charges framed against Mr. Kanahaiya Kumar and other students of JNU and defended the freedom of expression enshrined in the constitution of India.

Dr. Gandhi also recited his favourite poem �Jaga De Mombatiya� written by Mr. Surjit Patar the living legendary poet of Punjab.

Copies of an article, very relevant to the existing socio-political scenario of the country were distributed among the students of the campus.
