BREAKING: Bhai Waryam Singh Visits Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa; Prof. Bhullar Granted Bail

LUDHIANA / AMRITSAR SAHIB, Punjab—Political Sikh prisoner Bhai Waryam Singh, who spent 26 years of his life in jail, yesterday paid visit to Sikh activist Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa at the Dayanand Medical College and Hospital.  Bhai Waryam Singh was permanently released last month by the Uttar Pradesh government due to his good conduct during 26 years of imprisonment there.

Bhai Waryam Singh’s family had visited Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa in past, however, this is the first time he personally met Bapu Surat Singh.  Bhai Waryam Singh appreciated the long battle fought by Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa that opened the path for his release.  “I am greatly thankful to Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa for taking up this struggle, which allowed me to walk free,” he told Sikh24 after seeing Bapu Ji.

“When I was arrested, my son was 3 years old, and now, after 26 years, my grandson is the same age,” he said.   I spent these 26 years of my life in solitary confinement, however, due to Gurbani and sangat’s ardas, that time has passed away now.

“Along with Bapu Surat Singh’s sacrifice, Uttar Pradesh Jail Minister Balwant Singh Ramuwalia played vital role in recommending my permanent release to the Union Government of India,” he said.  He appealed the Punjab Government to step up its efforts to ensure the release of political Sikh prisoners confined in Punjab.

Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa’s son Bhai Ravinder Jeet Singh Gogi welcomed the visit by Bhai Waryam Singh.  “This is all due to the the hard work and support by the Sangat,” he said.  

Prof. Davinderpal Singh Bhullar Granted Bail

Today, the Amritsar TADA court also granted bail to Prof. Davinderpal Singh Bhullar.  A 23 year old case was pending upon him, however, the case was dismissed today.  During the past 23 years, no chargesheet had been filed against him.  Prof. Bhullar maybe able to walk free finally after he pays a bail bond of Rs. 50,000.
