:dateline:Following court orders for her release from the Judicial Custody, Irom Sharmila resumed her hunger protest against the military Special Powers Act (AFPSA). Irom Sharmila from Manipur is a human rights activist, who has been on fast-unto-death for the past fifteen years seeking repealing of the AFSPA.
Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa, a Sikh activist who has also been on hunger protest in Punjab since January 2015, welcomed the release of Irom Sharmila. He had earlier asked upon the Sikhs to support Iron Sharmila’s non-violent protest. A large group of Sikhs also attended her court hearing in New Delhi in August on Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa’s appeal. Bapu Surat Singh is protesting to seek release of political prisoners who have been languishing in jails despite completion of their sentences.
Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa also asked upon the Government to repeal the inhumane act immediately so moniroties in India could live peacefully.
Since the past fifteen years, Sharmila has been detained and force fed by the Government authorities, however, she has remained steadfast and on hunger protest to seek her demand. The Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act grants security forces the power to search properties without a warrant, and to arrest people, and to use deadly force if there is “reasonable suspicion” that a person is acting against the state; a similar Act applies to Jammu & Kashmir and was also used for Punjab.
Sharmila was detained under the Section 309 of the Indian Penel Code on charges of committing suicide. As a protest against the act, she began her non-violent protest in November 2000 when ten individuals were killed by troops of the Assam Rifles close to a stop at Malom, within the city district of Imphal.
Iron Sharmila was visited by several of her supporters after her release.
The problems is with the Empires Law.
India State Laws are inherited from the British Empire Laws .
These Laws are actually designed to run an Empire state.
Under the Empire laws states are very powerful and enjoy immunity.
Some intelligent and wise Law makers need to relook at our Laws so that all can enjoy the Freedom not only from the Empire but also its laws.
The Laws however must prevent a break up of Nation and curb violent activities in Nation in name of
Religion ,Caste ,Language or states.
Harmony among all citizens of India need to be maintained at all cost .
Same old denying responsibility refrain from RSS Harinder so I have to post the same response to counter his contention that India’s ills are all the fault of colonial white people. Apolgies ot readers who are familiar but these words are for those new readers that ‘Harinder’ is trying to propagandise to.
The draconian and discredited TADA law and its equally repressive and disgraced successor Prevention of Terrorist Activities Act were both indigenous Indian Laws (made by Indians, perpetrated by Indians and used against Indians) that did not exist under either British or Moghul rule. Kamal Nath, Sajjan Kumar, Jagish Tytler et al are all Indians who incited other Indians to murder innocent Sikhs and then got both protection from prosecution and rewards for this from other Indians. Nothing to do with existential foreign empires with lizard aliens hiding in human skins but Indians behaving bestially and without conscience or humanity. RSS men do not enjoy freedom of speech because they have willingly sold their souls like their Nazi SS counterparts to an ideology which promotes the perverted virtue of racial superiority and total obedience to a hate spouting charismatic Head of State. Whilst you are inclined to blame foreign existential Empires for all of Indias crimes you should note that the 1919 Jallianwala Bagh massacre did lead to Dyers disgrace and the pricking of British Imperial conscience and to Mahatma Gandhi concluding that Britain had from that moment on lost the moral right to govern in India. Those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it. Sikhs prominently fought against draconian British Empire laws (Rowlat Act etc) and agitated for justice with the Anandpur Sahib Resolution so in essence you are saying their fellow Indians are too stupid to think for themselves and slavishly adopt immoral ways of thinking? You are making an argument ironically as a RSS Hunduvta supporter then that Indians need to be governed by others as they cannot instinctively distinguish between right and wrong and the Sikhs should govern themselves because their innate ethos is to oppose tyrannical thinking.
