You CANNOT call yourself a Sikh if you reject the authority of the Khalsa, Panj Pyare, Miri Piri, the monotheistic Oneness of God and equality of all mankind but you can still claim to have a sense of the spiritual as that is still possible in other religions.

You can’t be a bit of a SIkh anymore than you can a bit pregnant – you are either pregnant or not pregnant, you are either a subscriber to Sikh values and ethos or you are not. He wants to decouple the 5Ks and the Dastaar from the very identity of a Sikh so that those who remain in the Khalsa Panth (actually having the temerity to be baptised in the faith instead of just paying lip service and using religiosity as a cloak of respectability like the Badals and SGPC) can be singled out and labelled as ‘orthodox’, ‘radical’, ‘militant’, ‘extremist’ and finally terrorist so that they can be done away with out in the open instead of the clandestine back of the truck method used in the 80s and 90s.
