BREAKING: Bhai Mohkam Singh Arrested By Police Again

MohkamSinghAMRITSAR SAHIB, Punjab—United Akali Dal (UAD) president Bhai Mohkam Singh, one of the chief organizers of Sarbat Khalsa 2015,t held at Chabba village of Amritsar on November 10 last year, was again arrested today by Tarn Taran Police from Amritsar, in connection with protests undertaken by Sikh congregations at Harike headworks.

He was released from Ludhiana jail just 4-5 days ago. According to Police sources, another case has already been registered against him at Harike Police station, for the blockade of Harike bridge and the cutting of trees.

Today, he came to Amritsar court alone, to make an appearance for this case, when a team of Harike Police arrested him. The Police sources said the Sikh leader would be presented before the court of Patti sub-divisional magistrate, Amandeep Singh on Feb 3.

Sources of Harike Police station told Sikh24 that Bhai Mohkam Singh was booked last year for allegedly blocking Harike bridge which is situated on Amritsar-Sri Ganganagar national highway and cutting  trees during the unrest that spread throughout Punjab against the sacrilege of Guru Granth Sahib under sections 379, 431, 188, 283 of IPC, 15 of the national highway Act and 25, 27 of Arms Act.

Sikh organizations condemned the arrest terming it as a grave violation of human rights as the Sikh leaders appear to have no rights to undertake any kind of political activity, nor are they allowed freedom of speech and expression.

  1. I keep hearing about this 2017 elections… is there anything you want to say…
Yes Sikhs get arrested for anything – even if it was not for tree cutting they would fabricate another charge ! its disgusting…. these butchers have nothing else to do…. if they concentrated on real criminals Punjab would be much better place….

    • Stop the name calling? I have been perfectly civil if acerbic in my comments and only become robust when the posts to which I am responding themselves descend to offensive dissembling. You want me to stop referring to ‘Harinder’ as RSS Harinder and allow him to use the guise of a Sikh name to misrepresent Sikh doctrine and history when he has openly admitted to being a proud RSS supporter? It is not about just ‘disagreeing with someone else’s point of view’ as that infers the other’s POV has some validity containing at least some different ambiguous interpretation of fact open to debate. ‘If you disagree with someone else, it is ok’? No, not okay; a Nazi does not have commensurate right to hold his opinion let alone have it respected as the argument of the Jew he is trying to exterminate. I had a different point of view to RS when he scathingly commented on the Sikh protester who stood up at a Donald Trump rally in support of Muslims. In that instance RS’s further elucidation showed that his reasoning was sound and I was persuaded to alter my position and accept the validity of his criticism of the protester. That cannot happen with RSS Harinder as his posts are cynically designed to deceive Sikhs who are not aware of the evidence of the case and indeed even their own history and religious tenets. There is no choice but to robustly correct his misrepresentation and outright lies because if you don’t do that nipping in the bud then the pernicious lie eventually becomes the ‘received wisdom’ which creates a new normal such as the entirely heretical attempt to sneak the Ramayana and Mahabharat into Sikh scripture. RSS Harinder is repeatedly pressing for the acceptance amongst Sikhs that they ‘deserved’ Operation Bluestar and pogroms (because how dare they stand up to the State even if it was engaged in an unconstitutional political campaign to undermine the Sikh nation) and the notion Sikhs no longer have to pay attention to Sikh doctrine because we are living in ‘modern times’. For him this means we can repudiate elements of Sikh ethos given to us by the Gurus themselves within their own lifetimes – the concept of Miri Piri, the baptism of Khalsa et al. He wants to decouple the 5Ks and the Dastaar from the very identity of a Sikh so that those who remain in the Khalsa Panth (actually having the temerity to be baptised in the faith instead of just paying lip service and using religiosity as a cloak of respectability like the Badals and SGPC) can be singled out and labelled as ‘orthodox’, ‘radical’, ‘militant’, ‘extremist’ and finally terrorist so that they can be done away with out in the open instead of the clandestine back of the truck method used in the 80s and 90s.
You don’t want to stand up for the sanctity of Sikh religious values or historical probity (his RSS are actively engaged in rewriting history textbooks in schools in India), fine, plenty of fair-weather Sikhs have been cowed which has given encouragement to the likes of Harinder and his Hinduvta mafia to continue their insidious campaign to infiltrate and undermine Sikh institutions. But I will call a spade a spade thank you very much. Have you actually read his comments when he has threatened to visit me with the murderous likes of his heroes KPS Gill and Brar? He holds up the likes of a porn star, Sunny Leone, as being an example of the modern Sikh woman? That all ‘okay’ with you? As for my ’name calling’ of the SGPC, Badals and other political organisations that can and do cause damage to Sikh interests, my barbed comments are in keeping with the satirical lampooning all such supposedly public representative bodies need to be subjected to in a proper democracy. If others did the same instead of adopting Harinder’s Uriah Heep slavish deference these organisations would be more receptive to changing their ways instead of having them reinforced by public apathy and fear.
Name calling causes you offence – well blatant and unopposed attempts to blacken the name of Sikhi, rewriting / whitewashing historical facts and having hypocrites pose as Sikh leaders causes me offence. Best thing for you is not to read any comments I make every time that paid propagandist posts as ‘there are none so blind as those who will not see. The most deluded people are those who choose to ignore what they already know to be true’. Name calling; daily we have Sikhs being arrested, harassed and tortured and you are upset about my name calling of those who support such persecution? You’ve got your priorities askew.

    • He is not being allowed to conduct political activity and freedom of expression which is required for electioneering so how do you you expect him to form a Government when he is being stopped for the most spurious reasons to present his case to the electorate?

  2. He is being arrested for ‘cutting of trees’. Pathetic excuse to harass him so he can’t present his case to the electorate. RSS Harinder, what do you have to say about free and fair elections in Punjab now – your guilty silence is deafening.
