:dateline:In a significant development, so-called Jathedar of Akal Takht Sahib Gurbachan Singh admitted his fault in the controversial move of pardoning Sirsa based cult chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim for committing blasphemy against Sikh religion.
In an interview given to ABP Sanjha, Gurbachan Singh clearly said that decision of pardoning the Sirsa cultist was his blunder for which he is ready to resign from the post, if the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) would ask him.
It is for the first time that he has admitted his blunder committed against aspirations of Sikhs across the world. The controversial move had hurt Sikh sentiments globally. �
Sikhs were unhappy with the decision to pardon him because traditions�and norms demand any guilty person to physically appear before the Takht. �The Dera chief got away with the offence without apologizing in person.
Pertinently, taking a U-turn, Gurbachan Singh said the decision was not to pardon the cultist, it was just acceptance to his clarification sent by post.
On second thoughts when Maharaja Ranjit SIngh erred against the Sikh Panth he used to have present himself to make his apologies at the Akal Takht and would be chastised by the Akali Nihangs along the way – they would beat his back and swear abuse at him which he would take humbly folded hands and with penitent heart. A Great King and Leader of the Sikhs acknowledging that ultimately the Sikh Panth is sovereign to him and accepting their authority with grace and honour. That is the example Makkar and his puppet Jathedar Gurbachan Singh need to follow I think. Yes I would accept this apology because it it was good enough for Maharajah Ranjit SIngh – far greater than the Bad-Al royal family – then surely such an exercise in penitence is both good enough and in keeping with Sikh historical practice at the Darbar Sahib for Makkar’s priests. Let them do this walk of shame if they truly actually feel it. Of course they won’t because they have no shame as Makkar’s cabal are the SGPC – Shameless Godless Perverted Collaborators.
He ‘admits’ it’s his fault months after it has happened and only after it has become blindingly obvious that the Sikh Panth is not going to accept such a pardon so the SGPC decides we need a fall guy to take the heat. ‘Get one of our stooges to fall on his word and the Panth will say honour is satisfied and leave the rest of the SGPC alone’. That’s the twisted calculation of limiting the damage that Makkar and Badal have made and they can’t even try and hide their insincerity when their chosen fall guy says ‘I will resign if the SGPC asks me to’. He ‘offers’ to resign – what more un-Sikh like quality does this man need to show to prove his imposter credentials? Let me tell you Makaar and Badal this half-hearted, cynical change of mind (which has ONLY happened because the SIkh Panth through the Sarbat Khalsa and the Ardasi refusing to garland your boy) has shown determined backbone in contrast to your spineless weasling) isn’t fooling us let alone appeasing. Makkar, his entire SGPC committee (top three tiers at least) and Badal need to resign permanently and go into retirement – I won’t even ask for you to extend your apologies to the Sikh Panth as we all know they will be mealy-mouthed, insincere and entirely self-centred not to mention require the nod of assent from your Hinduvta masters.
